"I guess I'll put a call out for people to start cooking-" I'd barely said it when Kent Martens pulled up. He and Kristy Larsen hauled in boxes and bags of food.
Talk about timing.
Kristy had organized a cooking night with her EFC youth group, who set to work on the pasta and chili dishes.
And they didn't stop there. They also wrote letters, notes and encouragement cards for those who would receive the food. Some were a hand drawn picture, some included a verse. Some were thoughtful letters.
"I don't know you, but God does"
"You are loved"
"I am praying for you'
I had to hide my misty eyes as I read the letters. Carol and I were so glad to hand them to each client today.
One young man received the 'I don't know you, but God does" letter. He read it slowly. Twice. I was honored to watch him take it in, and prayed while he read that the Lord would touch his heart.
I wish the youth group could see how their gift has already made an impact. It was a timely answer to prayer. The letters touched the hearts of volunteers and our guests. And we're not done handing them out.
Thank you so much!
