"Thank you so much!" She took the bag of toiletries gratefully. Injury had left her unable to work, and social assistance did not provide enough for food, much less toilet paper. She had no other way to pay for dish soap, shampoo, or toilet paper, the items she now clutched in her hands.
She is one of many people who don't have enough money to pay for everyday hygiene items others take for granted. Have you ever lived a week without shampoo or dish soap? Or without toilet paper? It's an interesting mental exercise to just imagine it. How would you manage?
We are also honored to announce the upcoming benefit concert next week...
On Oct 24th, Tim Hiebert and The Glory Boys will perform. Thanks to event sponsors who have covered event costs, all ticket sales will be donated to Steinbach Community Outreach.
And we'll be applying that money directly to our most desperate need - toiletries.
Join us for an evening of entertainment that will benefit many. Space is limited, so get your tickets quickly!
Date: October 24th
Time: 7:00 pm
Place: SBC Theatre
Cost: $10.00
Tickets for sale at Hulls Family Bookstore in Steinbach, or online here.
** If you bring shampoo, dish soap or laundry soap, there's a $2 discount at the door **
(Of course, you can bring some anyway, even if you bought your tickets ahead of time.)
And, if you can't make it to the concert, but would like to help out with toiletries, donations can be dropped off to us at SMC (345 Loewen Blvd) between 9-12 and 1-4 Tuesday-Friday.
Thanks so much for helping us help others.
We couldn't do this without you!
